Fines and Fees

  • From the Fines interleaf you can see how much you have unpaid fees and the reason for the fees.
  • If your fees amount to 10 euros or more a loan block will become effective. When you have paid the required fees your borrowing rights will be restored.
  • You can pay the fees at the customer service desk or by using the web payment service.

Online payment

What can you pay online?

You can only pay the fees on returned or renewed loans. If there is a text “Accrued Fine” beside the fee, it cannot be paid until the loan has been renewed/returned.

Web payment is possible with all the Finnish web bank services and with VISA, VISA Electron and MasterCard. The smallest payment possible is one euro.

Paying fees with Diak Finna online payment services:

1. Login to Diak Finna and choose Fines interleaf to see the fees on your account.

Before you pay online, please note that:

  • First, choose whether you will pay all your fees or just some of them.
  • The minimum sum you can pay is 1,00 €.
  • If the amount of your payable overdue charges exceeds 50 €, do not pay online! Contact your library instead
  • You can only pay fees on uncollected reservations and overdue loans that are returned or renewed. If there is a text “Accrued Fine” beside the fee, it cannot be paid until the loan has been renewed/returned.
  • If you have fees that cannot be paid online, contact the library’s customer service.
  • Online payment is not possible during service breaks.

2. To pay, first select which fees you are going to pay and then click the Pay online button.


3. Be sure to return back to Diak Finna (Return to seller’s service) after you have made the payment so that it will be registered to the library system without delay. Sometimes, due to delays in banking, the registration of a payment in the library system may still be delayed. Then you will see a notice on the payment page.
You will also receive a receipt for the payment by e-mail.


At the campus libraries you can pay fees with bank/credit card.

Information on Paytrail online payment service

Paytrail Plc acts as an implementer of the payment handling service and as a Payment Service Provider in cooperation with Finnish banks and credit institutions. In the VISA, VISA Electron and MasterCard payments, Paytrail Plc will be shown as the receiver in the invoice and they will forward the payment to the merchant. Paytrail Plc is a licensed payment institution. For the consumer, the service works exactly the same way as the traditional web payment services.
